Hibernate Persistence Research
Long ago, before Java was all that mature, I wrote a checkpoint/restart tool for Java that implemented a lightweight persistence framework. Now, I went back into the Java persistence world to do a research project. I can't get into exactly what this research was about, because it is a company secret and I can't blab about it on my web site. Clearly, Hibernate stood out as the dominant solution for persistence frameworks in Java (and also available for .NET). I learned about Hibernate, how it handled transactions, and where various hook points were in Hibernate applications.
