| Other Skills/InterestsRPM Planning With SoftwareApplied the RPM rapid planning method developed by Anthony Robbins (formerly called OPA) to software development projects. Other planning methods are so heavily based on blocking out specific durations of time and completing projects by a specific date that they do not adapt well to software development, particularly the kinds of open-ended research projects I am involved with. The method Robbins developed is based on outcome, purpose, and action. Each project is made up of smaller projects, each of which has an outcome that needs to be achieved, and a purpose the project is meant to accomplish. Then, each project has a list of actions which need to be taken to achieve the outcome. This approach, which is not locked into specific dates and times, works better for software development and research projects, where every task must have a purpose to justify the time spent doing it. Projects can then be prioritized as to what is most important for business goals. I thumbnailed a sketch of this adaptation of RPM, and a web developer created a DHTML interface for creating projects and tasks online, which allowed for collaboration and instant information for team leaders. | ||||||||||||
