WORKOUT Test Suite
For one of our mainframe products which analyzed SQL, I created a test program called WORKOUT, a scriptable program that generated a lot of SQL statements for our product to analyze. Along with this was a Perl program to "spew" jobs for stress testing, by filling out skeleton JCL with parameters and FTP-ing it directly to JES2. The WORKOUT program found several issues during beta testing that would otherwise not have been detected, and the main developer raved about it. Later modified to generate dynamic SQL as well as static. Originally developed on Linux using DB2 Connect and then recompiled on the mainframe, it was ported back to Linux for network testing.
